Daniel Zwelling is the founder and Managing Director of Rivermill Advisors. Prior to starting Rivermill, Dan was a Managing Director at TM Sanabe Partners and Sanabe & Associates. Sanabe & Associates was a boutique investment bank focused on the paper & packaging, building products and renewable energy industries. TM Sanabe Partners is a specialty practice of TM Capital, focusing on the sectors historically covered by Sanabe. At these firms, Dan worked with a range of clients, including Catalyst Paper, Domtar, EACOM Timber, EPICO Srl, Finch Pruyn, Interfor, Kruger, Manistique Papers, NewPage, Resolute Forest Products, Smurfit-Stone Container (Ad-Hoc Group of Preferred Equity Holders), Synergics, Versa Capital/Brite-Line Technologies, Watermill Group/FutureMark Alsip, Wellspring Capital Management/Neucel Specialty Cellulose and WestRock.
From 1999 – 2002, Dan worked as an Associate in the Paper, Packaging and Forest Products group at Credit Suisse First Boston. In this position, he played a significant role in several completed transactions for International Paper including the $10 billion acquisition of Champion International and related financing, the $500 million sale of the Masonite division and a $1 billion Convertible Debenture offering.
Prior to receiving his MBA from Yale University, Dan worked as a legislative aide to Congressman Robert Matsui (CA). Dan received a BA from the University of California, Santa Cruz.
Dan lives in Natick, Massachusetts with his wife and two daughters. He serves on the Board of Directors of Temple Israel of Natick. He enjoys family time and many outdoor activities; and best of all, combining the two.
